Some of y'all might reknize some of these few pics i blogged from a nipa hut in Philippines where i was stayin in February 2010. It is the waterfront tiny town of Malabuyoc, south Cebu Island. Luckily i'z a cheapskate....(how is this wurd spellt anyways?).... was planning to be there now on this mammoth 10 week holiday....but alas, never left North China 'cause prices and seats are impossible...time to move back to south China!
The epicenter of Mondays Earthquake was about 32 km from the nipa hut i stayed in in malabuyoc 2010, south Cebu. The epicenter is in the attached picture called "from nipa bamboo deck", which is one of a bunch i took. In that picture, Negros island is in the horizon and the epicenter was between the 2 islands Cebu and Negros. I was tentatively planning to be there now, but as said i couldn't get a decent ticket price...not even close, i didn go. Not sure how big the waves were but surely would have had a good swim....it seems similar nipa's on the Negros side were creamed in what little news i dun heard so far. Haven't been able to contackt any of my friends there cause we just used cell phones...no emails. Ayyyy mateys....tiz the ring of fire. There are live volcanoes on Negros in case you wanna go see em....i was too busy drinkin beer....and even ended up in a town a few clicks from the town Guihulngan that was hit hard.
The pics of preppin lunch on the nipa deck...that was a normal noon event...so i guess since the quake hit at 11:50am, woulda been there or out for a pre lunch swim.
Anyhoozer...ain it fun considerin the probabilities of what coulda been .....i also applied for a bunch of jobs in Japantoo in Jan and February 2010....in fact i aint no clue what cities those applications were for....but alas....Harbin had the first offer.
